While taking our Saturday morning walks to the Deerfield farmers market (with a pit stop for coffee along the way, obvi), I started noting a new trend. Fall decorating had arrived. All those beautiful orange and brown hues really brightened up the neighborhoods and got me in the mood for apple picking, hot chocolate, scarves, and booties.
The outside of our house still needs a lot of work, including:
- Mud jacking the front porch
- New front doors (post coming soon)
- Power washing the current stone
- Painting (but probably not for a few years)
- Cleaning the gutters
- New garage door
The list goes on and on! Home ownership is no joke.
But while I’m waiting for the the energy/inspiration/funds to tackle all of the above, I’m going to put a few pumpkins and mums around the house in an effort to elevate our fall decorating game.
For inspiration, here are a few pics from around the web that I may try to copy (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, am I right?).
I plan on getting my pumpkins from the local pumpkin patch, the mums from my local grocery story, but here are a few more fall decorations I may just have to splurge on.
A beautiful wreath from Terrain.
Burlap pumpkins I could use year after year (the very same ones from picture 5).
A pumpkin candle to keep things smelling sweet.
Halloween brooms to give my front porch a Hogwarts feel.
So what do you think? Are you excited for fall? Are you sad winter is almost here? I will say, the shorter days are already getting me down, but I do love this fall weather.
